AWARDS

Robert Parker: 95/100

Wine:

Rated 95/100 by Parker, the 2020 red IGT Toscana Tenuta Tignanello is once again a triumph, showcasing a surprisingly accessible, sleek, and refined style. Predominantly Sangiovese, with the addition of Cabernets, it sets a standard for classicism with delectable aromas of black cherry, spices, flowers, and a hint of toast. The structure is highly elegant, framed by silky, very smooth tannins that underline its accessibility. It can be opened within the year, ideally after decanting, and of course, can be cellared for much longer.

Vinification:

Harvested by hand. Fermentation in truncated-cone tanks. Racking after sampling and tasting. Aged for 15 months in French and Hungarian oak barrels, part of which are new.

Color:

Intense, brilliant ruby red.

Nose:

Intense aromatic complexity, with scents of red fruits, cherries, strawberries and blackberries underlined by subtle notes of violets, rose and roasted coffee.

Palate:

Rich and full-bodied, the first impression on the palate is powerful, with flavors of red fruit and spices, pepper and licorice. Fine tannins mingle with a long, silky structure.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Italian-style stuffed piglet, beef tenderloin Wellington.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2040, and even longer for enthusiasts

A treasure of Italian viticulture, Antinori is one of the leading names in the global vineyard scene. Its highly coveted cuvées stir the rankings and enchant wine lovers worldwide.

At the heart of Chianti, Tenuta Tignanello is the lifeblood of the Antinori family. Spanning 130 hectares of hillsides, clinging to rocky and limestone soils, this estate produces some of the most luxurious wines on the planet, the most coveted in Tuscany. It was here that the first Sangiovese aged in barrels, Tignanello, was born, the first to be blended with Cabernets in the early '70s and demoted to table wine for breaking free from Chianti appellation rules. This pioneer of the "Super Tuscans" is undoubtedly among the most sought-after wines globally, just like Solaia, with which it shares its land and legacy.
