Wine:

A pure tempranillo wine, the 2018 Red Rioja Cueva del Contador reflects all the style and delicacy of the estate. A bottle that combines generosity and freshness with a rather taut palate, with tight tannins. A very nice approach to the Rioja and its grape variety. Rated 93/100 by Robert Parker.

Vinification:

Hand harvested, de-stemmed and crushed, fermented and aged for 19 months in new 100% French oak barrels.

Color:

Intense red.

Nose:

Intense aromas of black fruits with hints of sage.

Palate:

Ample and generous, this wine is slightly tense, with still tight tannins, and a lot of freshness.

Temperature:

Decant 2 hours before serving between 16 and 18°C.

Herb-crusted prime rib, duck breast with candied figs.
