Whistle Pig - Straight Rye Whiskey - Aged 12 Years

The Whistle Pig Straight Rye Whiskey Aged 12 Years was aged for over ten years in new American oak barrels and then finished in three different casks: Madeira, Sauternes, and Porto. This unique finishing imparts very special and highly complex flavors to the whiskey, reminiscent of dried fruits, honey, and apple pie. This is followed by notes of spicy rye, caramel, and mint with a finish that lingers on oak, dark chocolate, and caramel undertones.

Elaboration:

Aged for over ten years in new American oak barrels and then separated into 3 types of barrel: 63% Madeira, 30% Sauternes and 7% Port.

Color:

Dark amber.

Nose:

Flavors of dates and grapes mixed with notes of honey, jam and apple pie.

Palate:

An apricot and honey opening is followed by an explosion of spiced rye, plums, caramel and a touch of mint, with a finish of oak, dark chocolate and caramel.

Food and wine pairing:

Enjoy dry, with a little water or over ice.
