Château de Parenchère - Bordeaux Supérieur - Cuvée Raphaël Rouge 2008

Characteristics

Country / Region: Bordeaux

Vintage: 2008

Name: AOP Bordeaux supérieur

Grape variety: 50% Merlot, 50% Cabernet Sauvignon

Alcohol: 13.5 vol.

Color: Red

Capacity: 75 cl

Wine:

Château Parenchère cuvée Raphaël 2008 shows both the juiciness and great distinction of Bordeaux. The quest for concentration and maturity has given us a perfect, rare expression of blackcurrant and blueberry. It is a wine of very great class and great strength of spirit.

Vinification:

The uncrushed grapes are harvested at low temperature, only from dawn until the end of the morning. They are again chilled to allow cold pre-fermentation macerations that can last for as long as a week. Fermentations are conducted with temperatures never exceeding 28°C. Once the alcoholic fermentations are completed, the wines are heated and macerate at 30°C for one or two weeks and are then racked after tasting. The Raphaël wines are aged in marrein oak barrels from the Tronçais forest (exclusively) for 14 months using the micro-oxygenation technique.

Color:

Intense colour, crimson reflection.

Nose:

A great deal of freshness on the nose, with fruity notes of ripe cherry mixed with fine, subtle oak.

Palate:

An harmonious wine on the palate, combining power and structure with omnipresent fruit and notes of dark fruit (blackcurrant, blueberries, etc).

Temperature:

Serve between 16 and 18°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Red meats, grilled meats, small game, cheeses.

Cellar aging:

Enjoy up to and including 2018

Estate of 153 hectares located to the far east of the Bordeaux region, next to the Dordogne (Sainte-Foy-La-Grande region). The vineyard itself is concentrated on 63 hectares (59 hectares of red grape varieties and 4 hectares of white varieties), making up the property's best parcels.
