Wine:

There is nothing pretentious about Château l’Inclassable 2002; perfect balance throughout makes it a superior wine. On entry it is faultless and the follow through is a model example. The Cabernets are lofty and precise. The graphite and autumnal notes in 2002 are the natural continuum of the class with which Bordeaux wines develop. Here we find the embodiment of a great Medoc classic, no less. The panel's favourite wine!

Vinification:

Permanent grass cover over the entire property and sustainable protection of the vineyards.
Long thermo-regulated maceration in cement tanks. Aging for 12 months in 400 litre new oak barrels, a third of which are renewed each year.
The yield is 45 hl/ha.

Color:

Dark black colour with purplish highlights.

Nose:

Aromas of graphite, truffles, undergrowth and humus.

Smooth and supple on the palate, graphite and autumnal notes illustrating how superbly the wine has developed.

Serve between 16 and 18°C

Food and wine pairing:

Lamb, truffled capon, side of beef, poultry, cheeses.

Cellar aging:

Enjoy up to and including 2015

Following an unreasonable court decision, this Château formerly known as "Château Lafon" was banned from using its name. In memory of the 5 generations of his family who went before him, Remy Fauchey decided to rename the Château "l'Inclassable" (the unclassifiable one). Although the vagaries of a dogmatic legal system forced this change, there remains two constant factors: the unwavering quality of the production and an uncompromising style.
