Wine:

The Cru Monplaisir is a real bomb. The consistency and deliciousness of this wine couldn't be more seductive. Produced in the marshes just behind Margaux, it possesses all the silkiness and velvetiness of a Margaux. Taken over in 2009 by the Gonet Médevilles, this is the inevitable future of Bordeaux.

Vinification:

Hand harvested, traditional vinification, vatting for around 18 days never exceeding a temperature of 26°C, minimum extraction in order to retain the wine's fruit and silkiness, aging lasts 9 months with only 10% in barrels so that the fruit does not become hard.

Color:

Pretty garnet colour

Nose:

Full of flavour on the nose, red fruit aromas, a touch of menthol

Palate:

Delicious and full of fruit on entry, unctuous texture on the palate, a superb concentration of instant pleasure.

Temperature:

Serve between 15 and 18°C

Food and wine pairing:

Red meats, grilled meats, cheeses

Cellar aging:

Enjoy up to and including 2015

In September 2009 Xavier and Julie Gonet acquired Château des Eyrins in Margaux as well as the Cru Monplaisir from the Grangerou family. The 2009 vintage is therefore their very first. Production is located in the Margaux district, the Cru Monplaisir as AOC Bordeaux Supérieur and the Château des Eyrins as AOC Margaux (of which the 2009 is still being aged).
